WELLINGTON, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand reported one new imported case of COVID-19 from government managed isolation site and no new community cases on Tuesday.

The imported case involved a person arriving from London via Kuala Lumpur who tested positive for COVID-19 after arrival, Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield told a press briefing.

The case brought New Zealand's confirmed cases to 1,585. The number of the country's active cases remained at 68 after seven people have recovered, Bloomfield said.

Since a community case involving an Auckland port worker was identified on Oct. 18, 20,000 community tests have been conducted in Auckland, with no positive results, Bloomfield said.

No new cases have been detected from the venues visited by the port worker and his contacts, he said.

About 8,500 tests were taken on Saturday and Sunday, which was "an encouraging sign that people are taking the virus seriously," according to Bloomfield. Enditem
