PHNOM PENH, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's Ministry of Health (MoH) confirmed on Wednesday that two Cambodian citizens returning from Japan tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the kingdom to 290.

The duo, aged 23 and 34, arrived in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia, on Monday from Japan via a connecting flight in South Korea, the MoH said in a press release.

"The results of their samples' tests showed (on Tuesday) that they were positive for the COVID-19," the MoH said. "Currently, the two patients are undergoing treatment at the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital."

The remaining 37 passengers on the same flight have been put under a 14-day mandatory quarantine at various quarantine centers in the capital, it added.

The Southeast Asian nation has recorded a total of 290 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, the MoH said, adding that none have died and 283 have recovered. Enditem
