BANGKOK, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) on Thursday reported that 437 village houses in the northeastern Nakhon Ratchasima province were inundated when the Moon River burst its banks in flooding caused by typhoon Molave.

The affected houses were in 31 villages in the province, with the floodwater reaching some 50-cm deep, said the department, adding that some 570 hectares of farm lands were damaged.

The Interior Ministry had earlier instructed all provinces to provide assistance for flood victims as soon as possible.

Local officials have been distributing relief goods and drinking water to the affected households.

Local television news outlets displayed footage of government offices and living quarters of police and district officials being also flooded. Enditem
