ZHUJI, China, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Guangdong Southern Tigers claimed a convincing 119-105 victory over the Shanghai Sharks, while the Shanxi Loongs defeated the Zhejiang Lions 113-103 in the sixth round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Thursday.

Marshon Brooks of Guangdong was unstoppable, notching a game-high 37 points in only 24 points, while his teammate Sonny Weems contributed 17 points, six rebounds and seven assists to the win.

Zong Zan and Jimmer Fredette both scored 22 points for Shanghai, but they could not hold off the fierce attack from Guangdong, especially in the last quarter where their opponents prevailed 30-17 with consecutive three-pointers.

Brooks led Guangdong to batter Shanghai with tough jump shots, ending the first quarter 32-20. But Shanghai found its rhythm and was on fire in the next two periods, cutting the deficit to only one point into the last quarter.

Shanxi ended its three-game losing streak after beating Zhejiang. Ren Junwei led Shanxi with 28 points, while Jamaal Franklin notched 25 points and 13 assists.

Miroslav Radulica of Zhejiang posted a game-high 31 points and 12 rebounds, but his team was short of aggressiveness as guard Sun Minghui and forward Zhao Yanhao were unavailable for the match.

Shanxi tied the game 31-31 at the end of the first quarter with an 11-0 run, but Radulica stood out in the second period, scoring 12 points to help Zhejiang lead 54-53 at the halftime break.

Shanxi blitzed its opponents in the third quarter, storming to a 34-22 run into the last period, where Zhejiang was too late to turn the tables as they could not pour on the pressure offensively.

Another game on Thursday saw the Beijing Ducks defeat the Fujian Sturgeons 80-71, with the latter only scoring four points in the last quarter. Enditem
