ZHUJI, China, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Fujian Sturgeons suffered their seventh straight defeat against the Sichuan Blue Whales, losing 90-80 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Tuesday.

Fujian remains winless in the young season. It is also the longest losing streak to open a new season in team history.

"Another tough loss for our team," rued Fujian's head coach Nenad Vucinic. "We got into a foul trouble early in the first half with our two leading scorers, while the bench found it difficult to score. But we fought well in the second half."

Five Sichuan players finished with double-digit scoring, while Hamed Haddadi contributed 18 points, 17 rebounds and seven assists. Jing Hanyi scored 22 points and 10 rebounds, Su Ruoyu added 16 points.

Sichuan led from start to finish against the the league's worst performed Fujian, ending the first quarter with a 29-15 lead. Fujian cut the deficit to four points midway through the second quarter, but Sichuan put it away with a 8-0 run to lead by 45-33 at halftime.

Haddadi led Sichuan on a 11-0 run to extend the margin to 16 points after the break, which Fujian never recovered from.

"We prepared well. At some moment we let them make some open three-pointers, but we fought back with our defense and rebounding," said Mo Ke, executive head coach of the Sichuan side. Enditem
