BEIJING, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 jolted South Shetland Islands at 11:49 a.m. local time on Saturday (2349 GMT on Friday), the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 12.4 km, was initially determined to be at 62.2526 degrees south latitude and 58.0103 degrees west longitude.
