ZHUJI, China, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- With a whopping 21 three-pointers in the game, Liaoning Flying Leopards defeated Guangzhou Loong Lions 117-82 in the 2020-21 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Monday.

Last season's runners-up took an early 19-13 lead in the first quarter before the game became one-sided as they extended the lead to 45-26 at the end of the first half. The inexperienced Loong Lions were never able to reduce the deficit, as they trailed by more than 30 point for most of the second half.

Five Liaoning players scored double digits as Cong Mingchen contributed a game high 33 points. He made 10 three-pointers, which ties the franchise record. O.J. Mayo notched a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. Dallas Moore led Guangzhou with 24 points.

After the game, Liaoning players gathered to greet Guangzhou's head coach Guo Shiqiang, the former coach of Liaoning who spent over a decade with the club. Liaoning claimed its first CBA title in the 2017-2018 season under Guo.

"This is the first time for me to guide another team against Liaoning," said Guo, "We've shared laughter and tears through all these years."

"He is my mentor, my coach. Our team should thank him the most for those achievement we made," said Yang Ming, coach of Liaoning, "Hope everything goes well with him, hope he can take care." Enditem
