Gold down on stronger U.S. dollar

CHICAGO, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Gold futures on the COMEX division of the New York Mercantile Exchange fell on Wednesday as the U.S. dollar strengthened.

The most active gold contract for December delivery fell 14.8 U.S. dollars, or 0.79 percent, to close at 1,861.6 dollars per ounce.

Rising stock market indexes worldwide also dampened gold.

Silver for December delivery fell 19.5 cents, or 0.8 percent, to close at 24.267 dollars per ounce. Platinum for January delivery fell 24.6 dollars, or 2.76 percent, to close at 868.1 dollars per ounce. Enditem
