RAMALLAH, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Palestine is ready to return to the peace negotiation table with Israel under international legitimacy, a senior Palestinian official said on Wednesday.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, the Palestinian presidency spokesman, made his remarks in a statement published by official news agency WAFA.

His remarks were a response to Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz, who said during a session of the Israeli Knesset (parliament) that the Palestinian leadership should return to the talks without excuses and work together to find a solution.

Abu Rudeineh said that the Palestinian leadership "is ready to return to the negotiations based on international legitimacy, or from where the negotiations ended, or by Israel's commitment to the signed agreements."

The last peace talks between the Palestinian Authority and Israel stopped in 2014.

The Palestinians have refused to accept U.S. President Donald Trump administration's sponsorship of any peace negotiations with Israel since it recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Enditem
