ROME, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has delivered its 100th cruise ship and posted revenues of 3.5 billion euros (4.1 billion U.S. dollars) in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company said Thursday in a statement detailing its nine-month results.

Third-quarter revenues showed a recovery in production activities "broadly in line with a pre-COVID-19 performance", the company said, adding it has a total backlog of 36.8 billion euros, almost 6.3 times its 2019 revenues.

Fincantieri said it delivered two cruise ships from the company's Italian shipyards amid the emergency -- the "Enchanted Princess" built for Princess Cruises, a Carnival Corporation brand, and the "Silver Moon", for Silversea Cruises, a Royal Caribbean Group brand.

Fincantieri also noted it will supply Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co. Ltd with 2,800 cruise ship cabins for a vessel under construction, a part of its ongoing engagement in the Chinese market.

In November last year, Fincantieri celebrated the float out of the second of two cruise ships it built and designed specifically for the Chinese market, the Costa Firenze.

With over 230 years of history and over 7,000 vessels built, Fincantieri has 18 shipyards operating in four continents and nearly 20,000 employees. (1 euro = 1.18 U.S. dollars) Enditem
