KIEV, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- A total of 512,652 COVID-19 cases, with 9,317 deaths, have been registered in Ukraine as of Friday, while 233,849 patients have recovered, according to the country's health ministry.

A record high of 11,787 people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country in the past 24 hours, while 6,155 patients have recovered and 1,587 people were hospitalized, the ministry added.

Ukrainian Health Minister Maxym Stepanov said at a briefing Friday that if the quarantine is not observed, the country's COVID-19 hospitals will be one hundred percent full in a month.

"If we do not follow the rules, then in a month we will see one hundred percent of our beds filled. And then hospitals will have nowhere to take patients," Ukrainian news outlet Ukrinform quoted Stepanov as saying.

On Nov. 11, Ukraine decided to introduce a "weekend quarantine" in the country from Nov. 14 to Nov. 30.

Under the "weekend quarantine," mass events with over 20 people, routine hospitalizations and work at entertainment facilities will be prohibited on weekends in Ukraine. Enditem
