JIANGMEN, China, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai rallied past Liaoning in a five-set thriller here on Sunday to remain as the only unbeaten team in the Chinese women's volleyball league.
Louisa Lippmann of Germany had 26 kills, two blocks and an ace for game-high 29 points to help Shanghai come from two sets down to beat Liaoning 16-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-23, 15-8 for its third victory in as many matches. Jordan Larson of the United States and Yang Jie added 23 and 15 points for Shanghai respectively.
Shi Bingtong led Liaoning with 25 points with Duan Fang, Hu Mingyuan, Yan Ni and Sun Xiaoxuan adding 16, 14, 13 and 12 points.
Tianjin swept Zhejiang 25-13, 25-18 and 25-21 to snap its three-match winning streak. Li Yingying scored 16 points for Tianjin with Yu Yunwei and Zhu Ting adding 12 and six points respectively.
With its top scorer Li Jing rested, Zhejiang was led by Wang Mengyue's 15 points.
Later on Sunday, Guangdong sent Jiangsu to its first defeat in four matches 3-2 (19-25, 25-22, 17-25, 25-17, 15-13).
In the tie-breaker, Guangdong raced to a 10-5 advantage on back of a 5-0 run during which Dobriana Rabadzhieva of Bulgaria scored three points in a row. Jiangsu answered with a 7-0 burst to overtake the lead at 12-10, only to find Guangdong wrap up the match by running off five of the last six points.
Rabadzhieva finished with 28 points to lead four Guangdong spikers in double scoring digits while Chinese Olympic champions Zhang Changning and Gong Xiangyu contributed 23 and 20 points respectively for Jiangsu.
Also on Sunday, Sichuan defeats Hebei 3-1 (25-23, 25-27, 25-16, 26-24), Beijing outlasts Fujian 3-2 (25-14, 19-25, 15-25, 25-21, 15-11) and Shandong eased past Yunnan 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-15).
A total of 13 teams were competing in a round robin format in the first two stages with the top eight finishers to enter the third stage to fight for medals. Enditem
