Four killed in north Nigeria after attacks by gunmen

LAGOS, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were killed in attacks by unidentified gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday in Nigeria's northern state of Kaduna, a government official said.

Samuel Aruwan, the commissioner for the internal security and home affairs in the state, who confirmed the fresh attacks in a statement, said the bandits killed a district head and his son in an attack on Zango Kataf local government area in the early hours of Tuesday.

The gunmen also left the district's wife and daughter with machete and gunshot wounds respectively, Aruwan said.

Two other persons were killed and several kidnapped in another gunmen attack on the same day on three villages of Giwa local government area in the state, according to Aruwan.

The fresh attacks are coming a few hours after 11 persons were confirmed killed by gunmen in the Igbabi local government area of the state on Monday.

Aruwan said the Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, "worried by the development", has directed security forces to "fish killers" of the latest attacks.

The northern region in the most populous African has witnessed unabated gunmen attacks which has heft hundreds dead in recent years. Enditem
