2 die, 3 missing in floods, landslides in Indonesia's Central Java

JAKARTA, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Two people died and three others are missing in floods as well as landslides in Banyumas district, Central Java, Indonesia, according to a local agency on Tuesday.

The Banyumas Regional Disaster Management Agency said the floods and landslides occurred due to heavy rains from Monday night to Tuesday morning.

The disasters hit six sub districts in Banyumas, namely Sumpiuh, Gumelar, Lumbir, Purwojati, Kebasen, and Ajibarang.

In Bogangin Village, Sumpiuh sub district, a landslide hit a house and killed one person, while, in Banjarpanepen village, in the same district, a 50-meter-high cliff fell and hit three houses.

The landslide in Banjarpanepen village also buried four people, and one of whom died while the other three are still missing.

In Karanglewas sub district, the calamity damaged a bridge. Enditem
