A power substation in Datong, north China's Shanxi Province, has introduced a smart patrol robot to help it check facilities. The robot is equipped with a laser navigation system, an infrared thermometer, data and image recognition systems, and a self-charging system. It can collect data around the power substation to assess if there is any problem. It will turn into a mobile monitoring platform if an emergency happens. It can find out which part at the substation goes wrong so that the staff here do not need to risk themselves to do the job.
