ISLAMABAD, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani military said on Sunday that four terrorists were killed in the country's northwest tribal district of North Waziristan.
A statement from the army's media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations, said that the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation on a terrorist hideout near Kaitu River northwest of Spinwam in North Waziristan, killing four terrorists Saturday night.
"As soon as the troops cordoned the area, terrorists opened fire to flee from the area. However, all terrorists were killed by security forces," the statement said.
During intense exchange of fire, a soldier was killed while two soldiers injured, according to the statement.
Pakistani military had conducted a series of operations against terrorist groups in North Waziristan bordering Afghanistan.
Although the area has mostly been pacified, remnants of terrorist groups still manage to launch attacks on the security forces sporadically. Enditem
