KIEV, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- An U.S. Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer has started a journey to the Black Sea for regular patrols as part of a NATO mission, Ukrinform news agency reported Monday.

"USS Donald Cook (DDG-75) began their straits transit into the Black Sea, marking the 7th time a U.S. Navy warship has been in the Black Sea Region," Ukrinform quoted the U.S. Navy's 6th Fleets' Twitter account as saying.

U.S. Navy ships regularly patrol in these waters in support of their NATO allies Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania and partners Ukraine and Georgia.

The USS Donald Cook is a fourth-generation guided-missile destroyer. Its main weapon is the Tomahawk cruise missile with a range of up to 2,500 km. Enditem
