HANOI, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Police of northern Vietnam's Ha Giang province have arrested two drug smugglers, seizing 30 cakes of heroin, local media reported Tuesday.
The duo, aged 18 and 19, were caught red-handed transporting the drug on Nov. 21 in Ha Giang city, daily newspaper Cong An Nhan Dan (People's Police) cited the authorities as saying. Both of them are from the northern Dien Bien province, according to the report.
As stipulated in Vietnamese laws, those convicted of smuggling over 600 grams of heroin or more than 2.5 kg of methamphetamine are punishable by death. Making or trading 100 grams of heroin or 300 grams of other illegal drugs also faces the death penalty. Enditem
