BUENOS AIRES, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Veteran forward Maxi Rodriguez scored his second goal in as many matches but could not prevent Newell's Old Boys from stumbling to a 1-1 home draw with 10-man Talleres de Cordoba in Argentina's Primera Division on Monday.
Former Liverpool and Atletico Madrid forward Rodriguez gave the hosts the lead in the fourth minute when he latched onto a long Mariano Bittolo pass and thumped a first-time effort past goalkeeper Mauricio Caranta.
Talleres was reduced to 10 men on the stroke of half-time when Juan Mendez was shown a second yellow card for a bad challenge on Francisco Gonzalez.
But the visitors drew level in the 71st minute when Tomas Pochettino lashed home a powerful shot after combining with Guilherme Parede.
In Monday's only other match, Rosario Central won 1-0 at Godoy Cruz thanks to a first-half strike from Diego Novaretti. Enditem
