RIYADH, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia's satellite broadcasting school films 214 educational lessons daily for the kingdom's students to continue learning amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, said Mohammed al-Muqbel, Saudi deputy minister for general education.
As many as 120 hours of content are being filmed every day with all videos uploaded to Saudi's online education platform Madrasati as well as YouTube, said the official on a visit to the satellite broadcasting school in Riyadh on Monday.

Launched in August, the interactive platform was developed as a response to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Saudi students can log in and attend their lessons digitally, interact with their teachers and track their progress.
Madrasati, bringing together all levels of education at all stages of the learning process, provides students with virtual classes, homework assignment and delivery tools, and is available across 23 satellite television channels that broadcast 24/7, the official noted.

The Saudi Ministry of Education suspended all schools and educational institutions around the kingdom in early March, in a bid to contain the spread of the coronavirus outbreak. Since then, the ministry has accelerated the push of Madrasati as an alternative method to e-learning.
Saudi Arabia reported a drop in COVID-19 cases with 252 new infections detected in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the kingdom to 355,741, the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday. ■
