WINDHOEK, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- China's success in combating poverty and fostering development is worth learning for more countries, a Namibian expert has said, calling on African nations to draw on China's experience and policies which have helped lift many people out of poverty.

China has invested a significant amount of money and resources in agriculture, aiming to improve people's lives in rural areas, said Omu Kakujaha-Matundu, a lecturer and economist from the University of Namibia, adding that such a model is best suited for most African countries.

Stressing that Africa-China relations have solidified over the years, he said that it is "imperative for African countries to take a cue from the developmental policies used by their friend (China) in dealing with poverty."

"China's success stories in fighting poverty and uplifting communities is also hinged on zero tolerance on corruption, something which is still troubling us in Africa," the Namibian academic added. Enditem
