A 85-meter-high cooling tower was demolished in Shijiazhuang City, north China's Hebei Province on Monday. The cooling tower, once operated by a local thermal power company, was only 16 meters away from a railway and 46 meters away from an artery of the city, increasing the difficulty of the task. The expert team had conducted several rounds of review of the demolition plan, aiming to minimize the impact on local community, transport facilities and environment. Under close monitoring, the cooling tower was demolished early Monday morning. According to local authority, the demolition of the cooling tower will improve the environment in the northern part of Shijiazhuang City.
