GUIYANG, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Zhang Cheng, former assistant general manager of China's top liquor company Kweichow Moutai Group, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for accepting bribes.

The Liupanshui Municipal Intermediate People's Court in southwest China's Guizhou Province has handed down the sentence and imposed a fine of 2 million yuan (about 304,000 U.S. dollars), which will be turned over to the state treasury.

Zhang took advantage of his position to seek benefits for others, accepting bribes worth more than 34.18 million yuan from 2009 to 2019, according to the court.

The court said the sentence showed leniency, taking into consideration that Zhang confessed to his crimes and provided details that helped recover 13.99 million yuan in illicit gains. Enditem
