BISHKEK, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan reported 377 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, taking the national tally to 71,548.

The new cases were confirmed out of 3,388 COVID-19 medical tests in the country over the past 24 hours, said the Republican Headquarters for Combating COVID-19.

The new cases included 100 in the capital city of Bishkek and 127 in the northern region of Chui Oblast.

The headquarters also reported 402 more recoveries and five more deaths, bringing the total recoveries to 62,946 and the death toll to 1,256.

Currently, 2,875 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals throughout the country and 3,698 patients at home.

Since the first COVID-19 case was reported in Kyrgyzstan on March 18, the authorities have taken precautionary measures against the pandemic, including closing the country's borders, shutting down schools and entertainment centers, banning public gatherings, and imposing a curfew for one month and a half.

The Central Asian country declared an emergency on March 22, and the measure is still in force, with some public facilities remaining closed.

In addition, the government has imposed a ban on New Year's parties.

Deputy Prime Minister Elvira Surabaldieva said such a decision is associated with the difficult epidemiological situation in the country. Enditem
