HELSINKI, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Finland's gross domestic product (GDP) in July-September grew 3.3 percent from the previous quarter, outperforming a fresh estimate of 2.6 percent, official data showed on Friday.

According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, the country's third-quarter GDP contracted by 2.7 percent compared with the same period in 2019.

Finland's second-quarter contraction was also revised from minus 4.5 percent to minus 3.9 percent on the previous quarter.

"As can be seen from Eurostat's preliminary release, the Finnish economy is still clearly better able to cope with the interest rate crisis than other EU (European Union) countries," Statistics Finland said in a statement.

"Compared to a year ago, the Finnish economy contracted by 2.7 per cent in the third quarter, which is slightly less than in the EU (-4.3%) and the euro area (-4.4%)," it said.

Finland, with a population of more than 5.5 million, has so far registered over 23,000 COVID-19 cases and 393 deaths, official data show. Enditem
