SHANGHAI, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- TUV Rheinland, an international independent third-party testing organization, launched its first smart laboratory in Shanghai, aiming to conduct more cutting-edge tests and services in China.
The organization also launched its first innovation space outside Germany on Friday, which is TUV Rheinland's second such facility globally.
The innovation space will provide an environment for makers to foster inspiration and for customers to exchange ideas, as well as resources to create a cooperation platform and innovation incubation center, according to the company.
Chen Weikang, the Smart Lab project leader, said that nearly all the current tests and experiments in the testing, inspection and certification industry are completed manually with cumbersome procedures.
The smart lab substitutes manual operation with automatic intelligent equipment, and monitors the testing process synchronously with real-time human-computer interaction, Chen said.
According to Chen, the test mode of the lab can be replicated and promoted to over 70 percent of the main areas in the testing, inspection, and certification industry, substantially improving efficiency and accuracy.
Yushun Wong, CEO and president of TUV Rheinland Greater China, said that China has always been a top priority in TUV Rheinland's development strategy planning. As of the end of October, the turnover of TUV Rheinland Greater China had slightly exceeded the level of the same period last year, and the profit margin has increased by more than 25 percent year on year.
