KUNMING, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Jia Zhichao and Zhang Xixi, both from China, won the titles of men's and women's categories respectively at the 2020 Colorful Yunnan International Granfondo Cycling Festival in Yuxi, Yunnan Province on Sunday.

Due to COVID-19, cycling in China came to a near standstill in the first half of the year. It has warmed up again since June. Yuxi is a single-stage race with 108 kilometers ride, which has a lot of difficult climbs and sharp turns.

Jia finished his race in three hours, two minutes and 10 seconds, and Zhang completed her race in 3:28:14.

"I am so glad that Granfondo is coming back. The challenging track, enthusiastic spectators and professional organization attract me most," Jia said.

"The most part for me was the descent after the first climb as there are many curves and the top of the mountain was foggy. Fortunately, it didn't rain," Zhang said.

This cycling festival, a week-long competition which changed to a one-day race this year due to the epidemic prevention and control, attracted 300 cyclists from seven countries and regions.

The Granfondo Yunnan is in its seventh year. Its name Granfondo, originating from Italy, means long-distance, great perseverance and personal challenge to complete the match for each participant. Enditem
