ULAN BATOR, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Mongolian government on Sunday decided to partially extend the country's lockdown to stop the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The current nationwide lockdown, imposed on Nov. 12 after the country reported its first locally-transmitted case, is set to expire on Tuesday.

"We decided to only extend the lockdown in the capital city Ulan Bator and provinces of Selenge and Arkhangai by 10 days until Dec. 11," Yangu Sodbaatar, deputy prime minister and head of the State Emergency Commission, said at a press conference.

As of Sunday, Mongolia has confirmed 784 COVID-19 cases, including 352 locally-transmitted cases.

Local transmissions of the virus have been reported in the country's capital city and provinces of Selenge, Darkhan-Uul, Orkhon, Govisumber, Dornogovi and Arkhangai. Enditem
