German shares gain 0.60 pct at start of trading Tuesday

BERLIN, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- German stocks were off to a good start on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index rising by 80 points, or 0.60 percent, opening at 13,371.66 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies at the start of trading was aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero Engines, increasing by 1.69 percent, followed by automotive supplier Continental and industrial gas producer Linde, both growing by 1.36 percent.

On Monday, U.S. investment bank Morgan Stanley left its rating for MTU at "underweight" with a target price of 109 euros. Shares of the aircraft engine manufacturer were trading at around 203 euros at the start of trading on Wednesday.

Shares of Vonovia fell by 0.24 percent. The German housing company was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Germany's Federal Employment Agency announced that unemployment numbers in Germany in November fell to just below 2.7 million despite stricter coronavirus rules. A year ago, unemployment figures were more than half a million lower.

The yield on German ten-year bonds went down 0.002 percentage points to minus 0.574 percent, and the euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.1933 U.S. dollars, increasing by 0.02 percent on Tuesday morning. Enditem
