BEIJING, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- As China is drawing up its development plans for the next five years and beyond, a survey found that issues regarding education and employment have attracted the most attention among the country's teenagers and youth.

A report in Thursday's edition of China Youth Daily cited a survey among youth aged between 14 and 35 as saying that about 72 percent of those polled said what they care about most in the plans is the issue of promoting quality and fair education.

Also, around 65 percent of the respondents said they are interested in employment and the protection of workers' rights.

Proposals of the Communist Party of China (CPC) leadership for formulating the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 were adopted at the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee in late October.

The newspaper report said about 76.2 percent of the people surveyed said they have paid attention to the session.

The survey showed that the session has drawn the most attention from those aged between 30 and 35, with about 91 percent of respondents from the relevant group saying that they had kept a close eye on the event.

In the survey, nearly 60 percent of the young people said they have some knowledge about the content of the proposals.

In addition to education and employment, issues about income growth and public welfare, health and medical services, development of strategic emerging industries, elderly care and enhancing cultural soft power are also among young people's great concerns. Enditem
