MOSCOW, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- The Russian Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev announced Wednesday that the country's food market continues to remain stable, with grain harvest expected to surpass 131 million tons in 2020.

"In net weight, we will exceed 131 million tons," the TASS news agency reported, citing Patrushev's words on the nation's 2020 grain harvest during a meeting with the Russian President Vladimir Putin and government members.

The minister positively assessed the work of Russian farmers, stating they have managed to achieve some of the highest crop yields in recent history, according to TASS.

Patrushev also noted that Russia's agricultural exports are expected to exceed 28 billion U.S. dollars by the end of 2020.

He added that despite current challenges, Russia continues to supply agricultural products to new markets with about 900 Russian products currently being exported to 157 countries.

"I would like to note that the overall situation on the food market is stable. We are not witnessing a shortage of food," the minister was quoted by TASS as saying. Enditem
