SAO PAULO, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Brazil, the world's leading producer and exporter of coffee, saw a 32.2 percent increase in exports of the bean in November compared to the same month in 2019, setting a monthly record high, the Coffee Exporters Council (Cecafe) said Wednesday.

In November, Brazil exported more than 4.3 million sacks (60 kilograms each) of the product, 85 percent of which was of the Arabica variety, the trade group said in a statement.

In dollar terms, Brazil's coffee exports rose 32.3 percent compared to the same month in 2019.

From January to November of this year, Brazil exported more than 39.7 million sacks, 5.7 percent more than in the first 11 months of last year, also setting a record for the period.

"The export results of Brazilian coffee in November were once again surprising due to their excellent performance, both in terms of volume and economics," the president of Cecafe, Nelson Carvalhaes, said.

"In a year with so many challenges, we are very satisfied" with the results, he added.

The main destination markets for Brazil's coffee exports this year have been the United States, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Japan, Turkey, Russia, Mexico, Spain and Canada. Enditem
