COVID-19 has struck a heavy blow to small-and-medium-sized companies in Spain. Sauleda, a catering firm in Barcelona, is one of them. To overcome the crisis, the company has been trying to expand its business by sending custom food boxes for online events. Sauleda catered for events of up to 1,000 people and 70 weddings a year before the pandemic. It has seen its catering turnover fall by 90 percent amid the pandemic. It hopes to weather through the crisis through its new services. In its latest survey in October, the Spanish Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises, Cepyme, found that one-fifth of its members said they had lost up to 75 percent of their turnover due to the pandemic.
