VIENNA, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Lachtal resort in Austria finally played host to the FIS Snowboard Alpine Junior World Championships on Saturday after last season's scheduled events were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020 Junior World Championships were due to take place in Lachtal from March 30 to April 1 but had to be canceled following the outbreak of the pandemic.

The three-day competition will now see the preliminary heats and finals of the parallel slalom competition getting underway on Saturday and followed by the parallel giant slalom competition on Sunday and the parallel mixed team event on Monday.

It has been nearly six years since the Lachtal resort last hosted a major international snowboard competition after part of the Kreischberg FIS Snowboard and Freestyle Ski World Championships were held here back in 2015. Enditem
