HOHHOT, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- The launching ceremony of the 2020 Hohhot ice and snow sports season was held in Hohhot, the capital city of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Saturday.
The frozen East River, once the perfect place to enjoy cool air in the summer, has become the city's main spot for citizens to carry out ice and snow sports.
More than 3,000 square meters of ice are divided into several areas, including an ice car experience area, a speed skating area, and an ice hockey area.
The local government hopes to host a series of ice and snow events to attract more people to get involved in winter sports.
"We hope more people can feel the passion and happiness brought by ice and snow sports. The event will last for 40 days. The Hohhot Sports Bureau will also launch a series of all-year fitness-for-all programs," said Shi Rong'en, director of the Hohhot Sports Bureau. Enditem
