WCBA Roundup: Shanghai defeats Beijing, Wuhan edges Tianjin

HOHHOT, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- With five players scoring double digits, Shanghai beat Beijing 92-70 in the 17th round of the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA), while Wuhan thrashed Tianjin 69-52 on Sunday.

Peng Shiqing pocketed a game-high 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Shanghai, Li Yingyun added 19 while Huang Jing scored 14 points.

During the close first half, Shanghai took a 46-43 lead after Zhang Zhiting's layup. Shanghai strengthened the defense in the second half and went on an 11-2 run to take a 10-point lead.

Shanghai stayed in front for the rest of the game en route to the victory.

The other game on Sunday saw Wuhan beat Tianjin with Ha Wenxi scoring a game-high 26 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for Wuhan.

Both teams struggled on offense and Tianjin's field-goal percentage was 34.5 while Wuhan made 28 of 67 shots.

Wuhan led the first quarter 15-11, and kept the advantage to halftime. Tianjin tried to fight back in the second half, only to see Wuhan dash out with an 18-6 fourth quarter to take the win.

Peng Huaqian scored 14 points and Fu Jing added 10 points for Wuhan, while Tianjin only had five players on the scoreboard, with Ma Zhuo leading by 15 points, followed by Han Ziqi and Huang Yingli with 14 and 13 points respectively. Enditem
