CALI, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- America de Cali edged toward their 15th Colombian top flight title on Sunday with a 3-0 home win over Independiente Santa Fe in the first leg of the Primera A final.
Yesus Cabrera opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark before Duvan Vergara and Santiago Moreno struck in the second half at the Estadio Pascual Guerrero in Cali.
Santa Fe controlled 59 percent of possession and completed 314 passes to America's 222. But the visitors lacked a cutting edge in attack with just nine shots on goal, only one of which was on target.
America are vying for their 15th Colombian league title while Santa Fe are bidding to be crowned champions for a 10th time.
The return leg will be played at El Campin in Bogota next Sunday (Dec. 27). Enditem
