SHANGHAI, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai on Saturday reduced to zero the number of confirmed locally transmitted COVID-19 cases after the last local-infection case was discharged from hospital, local health authorities said.
Four confirmed COVID-19 cases, including the last locally transmitted case under treatment, were discharged from hospital after recovery on Saturday, the Shanghai municipal health commission said.
Authorities will carry out a follow-up health observation, the commission said. The locally transmitted case, a 46-year-old man, was diagnosed as a confirmed COVID-19 case and transferred to the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center for treatment on Nov. 22.
By Saturday morning, Shanghai had reported a total of 349 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases since the outbreak, of whom 342 were discharged from hospital while seven died. Enditem
