DAR ES SALAAM, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Elephants that strayed in a village in Tanzania's northwestern region of Kagera killed three people from the same family, police said on Wednesday.

Revocatus Malimi, the Kagera regional police commander, said the trio were attacked by the elephants in Nshabaiguru village on Tuesday afternoon.

Malimi told a news conference that after they were attacked by the elephants, the victims were rushed to hospital where they died while receiving treatment.

He said the elephants strayed from a game reserve located close to the village.

Malimi urged villagers in villages located close to game reserves to be watchful against the destructive wild animals. Enditem
