KIEV, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Security Service of Ukraine seized over one ton of heroin and nabbed four suspects in the western city of Lviv, the agency announced on its official website Tuesday.
A transnational organized criminal group last month brought in the 1,035 kg of heroin which worth over 2.3 billion hryvnia (81.4 million U.S. dollars) through Odesa, a port city in southern Ukraine. The narcotics were hidden in a food countainer, according to the agency.
The suspects, all foreigners, plotted to send the heroin to the European Union via diplomatic cargo. Three of them were caught on spot packing drugs, said the agency. Enditem
