Maldives receives 1.2 mln USD grant for COVID-19 response

MALE, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Maldives has received 1.2 million U.S. dollars in grant from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Union (EU) for strengthening its COVID-19 response, local media reported here Thursday.

The WHO office in the Maldives said that the grant will help provide the country with supplies, medicines, reagents as well as support for medical waste management. The grant will also be used to help it build the capacity for critical care, case management, and rapid response teams.

EU Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives Denis Chaibi said that the partnership with the WHO and the Maldives was aimed at protecting vulnerable communities. Enditem
