BERLIN, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Borussia Dortmund has changed its focus after sacking head coach Lucien Favre at the end of December. The Black and Yellows are no longer talking about winning the league title but want to stay amongst the group challenging Bayern.

Dortmund has installed Eden Terzic as an interim coach, but is also seeking for a longer term option. After Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann quashed speculation he will become the next BVB incumbent, the club now concentrates on Moenchengladbach coach Marco Rose.

While Rose has remained silent, Nagelsmann said that "nobody at Leipzig needs to feel worried. I am happy here and I have big goals with Leipzig." This saying came before the upcoming Saturday's match between RB Leipzig and Dortmund.

For Marco Rose, it seems an open secret that the former RB Salzburg coach will most likely leave his current job at the end of the season to take the next step in his career by joining Dortmund for the 2021/22 season.

Moenchengladbach's sporting director Max Eberl has admitted that the club is preparing to find a suitable replacement if Rose intends to leave.

Struggling Dortmund has adjusted its goals and said that the gifted team's general approach needs to be updated.

Mats Hummels, one of the influential team leaders, made his point by saying, "too few of us have played at a consistently high level."

The German international added: "It's not enough to take in easy in training during the week and then increase efforts for the competitive games."

The 32-year-old demanded passion and intensity in every training session. "We haven't played like adults. Our football can't be like one of kids gambling a bit at an indoor tournament."

Hummels said the team might be good enough to win league title in the upcoming years, "but they won't give it to us wrapped up as a present."

The club's CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke, said the current coach is aware "we might consider other solutions regarding our future man at the helm."

Sporting manager Sebastian Kehl demanded that the squad develop a new attitude on the pitch and called upon every single player to start by making changes themselves.

The former midfielder said the club's goals go beyond the role of being part of a group of challengers. It is up to the players to perform better.

Coach Terzic has increased training efforts and is working to lift spirits and trigger new ambitions.

The duel against Leipzig is the first major test for the young team. They will face a high quality side and will have to give 100 percent if they are to come away with three points.

"We've already come up against each other a few times, and it's not like we weren't successful in the games," Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said after rejecting rumors that midfielder Julian Brandt is on his way to join Arsenal. "There is nothing on the table," Zorc said. Enditem
