BEIRUT, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon filed a complaint to the UN Security Council over the kidnapping of a Lebanese shepherd by Israeli soldiers from a border region earlier this week, the National News Agency (NNA) reported Thursday.

Lebanese Ambassador to the United Nations Amal Mudallali also filed the complaint to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, requesting the immediate release of the kidnapped Lebanese citizen Hasan Qassem Zahra.

In addition, the complaint demanded the condemnation of repeated Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty.

Israeli army patrol soldiers kidnapped Zahra in the district of Hasbaya on Tuesday when he took a herd of goats to fields for grazing.

The shepherd's kidnapping came in the same week that Israeli warplanes had flown over Lebanon's capital Beirut and other areas of the country for three consecutive days. Enditem
