JOHANNESBURG, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- South African public servants would be able to learn a lot from China's experiences, said Bongani Mayimele, Director of International Relations and Partnership at the National School of Government when talking about the training collaboration between the two countries focusing on governance and emergency management.
National School of Government which falls under the Public Service and Administration Department in partnership with China's National Academy of Governance are set to offer courses on governance and emergency management in March and April.
"China has an impressive track record of crafting its own governance models which they have used to ensure there's enough capacity to implement government policies that have uplifted millions of people from poverty and to grow the economy," Mayimele told Xinhua.
He said they hoped that these public servants would then be able to learn from China's experiences and implement policies paying attention on poverty eradication.
"We would like the officials to learn China's governance models to accelerate development through the development of appropriate policies and their implementation," he noted.
Mayimele said they could also learn a lot about China's swift response to the coronavirus pandemic which helped in containing the spread of the virus.
"COVID-19 has changed the way we work and do things. The public service is expected to deliver services to citizens while ensuring minimal harm to the economy. We hope for the officials to learn how China manages emergencies and crises, ensuring few disruptions to livelihoods, everyday life and the economy," he added. Enditem
