The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) chief and former head of the International Olympic Committee's media operations have both hailed China's commitment to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

"Beijing will complete the unique double of becoming the first city to host both the winter and summer Games," said WADA President Witold Banka following Chinese President Xi Jinping's inspection tour of Beijing and Olympic co-host city Zhangjiakou.

"It is a truly remarkable achievement for Beijing. It is a tribute to the commitment that sport receives from the people and government of the city and from China as a whole."

During his inspection tour, President Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, reiterated his confidence that China would host a successful Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Anthony Edgar, senior consultant for Beijing 2022 and previously Head of Media Operations for the IOC for 18 years, said: "President's Xi commitment to the development and expansion of winter sports within China, which he promised in the bid stage, is absolute. It will leave a lasting legacy to China and the worldwide winter sports industry, unlike anything previously seen."

"It is always important that the Olympic Games receive the government's support, and under President Xi's personal involvement and leadership, Beijing 2022 has support and commitment of the highest level," added Edgar.
