HARARE, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwe's COVID-19 cases have surpassed the 30,000 mark after the country recorded 639 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Child Care said Friday.
In a statement, the ministry said the new cases pushed the country's total to 30,047, while 38 deaths recorded over the period raised the country's toll to 917.
A total of 19,569 people have so far recovered from the disease since the first case was reported last March.
Zimbabwe is in the middle of a new 30-day lockdown imposed on Jan. 5 to curtail the further spread of the pandemic. Enditem
