WARSAW, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Russian skater Semen Elistratov won the men's 1,000m race to take his second gold, while the Netherlands' Suzanne Schulting won the women's event over the same distance at the ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Gdansk, Poland on Sunday.
Having dominated the 500m and 1,500m races earlier, Schulting added another gold medal to her collection, also following up with second in a dramatic 3,000m team relay event.
The Russian team had originally crossed the finish line first, but was disqualified for causing the Dutch and the Italian teams to fall. France was thus awarded the win, followed by the Netherlands and Italy.
Earlier in the day, Elistratov was the fastest in the men's 1,000m, while Hungarian John-Henry Krueger and the Netherlands' Itzhak de Laat finished second and third respectively.
Elistratov and his compatriots also secured bronze in the men's relay, in which the Dutch triumphed ahead of Italy. Enditem
