MAZAR-E-SHARIF, Afghanistan, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and 25 others injured in a road accident in Charbolak district of Afghanistan's northern Balkh province on Monday night, provincial police spokesman Adel Shah Adel said Tuesday.

The accident took place on a road linking Charbolak district to the neighboring Aqcha in Jawzjan province at around 9:00 p.m. local time on Monday when a Jawzjan-bound passenger bus collided with a lorry coming from the opposite direction, the official said.

Blaming reckless driving for the accident, Adel said that careless driving on congested roads often causes traffic accidents. However, he didn't say if the drivers of the vehicles were killed or fled the scene.

This is the second road accident in Afghanistan over the past 24 hours. In the previous accident that occurred in the western Herat province early Tuesday two passengers were killed and 27 others injured. Enditem
