QALA-E-NAW, Afghanistan, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- At least nine civilians were injured as 10 missiles slammed into Qala-e-Naw city the capital of Afghanistan's western Badghis province on Tuesday, a member of provincial council Mohammad Nasir Nazari said.

Nazari also accused the Taliban militants of firing the missiles, asserting the militants fired missiles on residential area on Tuesday afternoon, injuring nine civilians.

Police have also confirmed the incident but didn't provide details.

In the meantime, head of health department in the restive province, Abdul Latif Rostae confirmed that nine injured civilians including a child had been taken to hospital.

Taliban militants who are active in parts of Badghis province with Qala-e-Naw as its capital 555 km northwest of Kabul have yet to make comment. Enditem
