ZHUJI, China, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Marshon Brooks scored a game-high 44 points to help the Guangdong Southern Tigers smash the Shanghai Sharks 146-120 to extend their winning streak to eight games in the 35th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Wednesday.
Clarence Weems contributed 28 points to Guangdong, and Zhou Peng added 20 points.
Guangdong led the game from the first quarter and extended the advantage to 15 points at halftime.
Shanghai narrowed the gap to five points at the beginning of the last quarter, but Weems and Zhou led the team to play a 21-5 spurt to seal Guangdong's victory.
Jimmer Fredette pocketed 34 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for Shanghai, Ju Mingxin scored 22 points and Huang Xu added 20 points.
Seven players scored double figures to help Liaoning Flying Leopards beat Shenzhen Aviators 117-103 to extend their winning streak to nine games.
Shenzhen played well in the first quarter, but they lost too much in the second and third quarters before Liaoning expanded the advantage to 25 points, and the two teams gave the second half of the last quarter to bench players.
O.J. Mayo bagged a game-high 24 points for Liaoning, and Zhao Jiwei got 15 points. He Xining scored a team-high 21 points for Shenzhen, and Yang Linyi added 20 points.
Also on Wednesday, the Xinjiang Flying Tigers smashed the Fujian Sturgeons without Wang Zhelin and Chen Linjian 130-102, while the Beijing Royal Fighters trounced the Nanjing Monkey Kings 127-100.
